Thermal, chemical and rheological properties of asphalt binders extracted from field cores

The intermediate-temperature performance of extracted asphalt binders (EABs) is altered when recycled shingles (RAS) and/or reclaimed pavement (RAP) are included in mixes. This happened as a result the RAP’s aged binder and RAS’s oxidized air-blown asphalt. Thus, rheological properties EABs from field cores were examined at intermediate temperatures. fatigue life Superpave cracking parameter among properties. Thermogravimetric analysis Fourier transform infrared used to analyze EABs’ thermal chemical characteristics, respectively. relationships between resistance, thermal, characteristics scrutinized. Ages mixes, percentages RAP RAS, grade (PG) temperatures virgin (VABs) controlled resistance cracking. Considering VABs with same PG temperatures, older mixes higher RAS had than those younger lower percentages. When increased, deteriorated. Thermal analyses along suggested indicators performance.
